TRANSPORT

However you travel, arrive at Honley safe and sound.

SCHOOL BUSES

WY Metro organise the contracts for a number of dedicated bus services to Honley. Students require an annual pass specific to a bus route to use the service, so please make sure you have applied in time. An after-school late bus to Meltham is available for students who have a pass and have stayed after school for a school activity. This bus is available on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and leaves at 4.00pm.

Several fare paying public buses also serve our school, in particular the 911 Meltham - Thurstonland circular, the 308, 309, 310 and 315.

To make everyone’s journey as enjoyable as possible, WY Metro has a code of conduct which sets out their behaviour expectations for people when using public transport. The code of conduct includes the sanctions WY Metro will apply if the required standards of behaviour are not met. Please read the WY Metro Code of Conduct below.

We expect all our students to be respectful and mindful of others whilst using the buses or any public transport.

WHO TO CONTACT

School bus service contracts across West Yorkshire are sourced and managed by WY Metro. Although we work closely with service providers to ensure the safety and transport of our students, schools do not have any influence on bus services.

Priority photo cards are required for ALL the school buses: K1, K2, K4, K5, K6 and K7.

Contact WY Metro or visit their website for applications for priority photo cards, fare-paying passes, general enquiries and the latest timetables. To prevent the buses from being overcrowded, students must only travel on the bus they have been allocated.

TRAINS & PUBLIC BUSES

We are fortunate that Honley train station is across the road. Trains from Huddersfield arrive at 8.19 am and depart Honley at 3.41 pm. Students catching the 3.41pm train are welcome to wait in the library or take part in an after school enrichment until they need to leave for the train.

Students must purchase a ticket for their journey. To help with the cost, Northern Rail offers an Education Season Ticket to reduce the costs by up to 75% https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/tickets/educational-season

To find out about train times, visit www.nationalrail.co.uk.

For students travelling by public bus, First Bus operates a number of buses that stop close to school. Visit their website for their journey planner, timetables, and prices: www.firstbus.co.uk.

WY Metro also has a journey planner, which covers trains, buses, cycle routes and walking - www.wymetro.com/plan-a-journey.

ARRIVING BY CAR, BICYCLE, BUS, TRAIN OR ON FOOT

With many students arriving at Honley simultaneously, it can get quite congested around the school. If you have the choice, we encourage your child to walk, cycle, or use the bus or train. If they intend to cycle to school, please contact Student Services for more information on how to store their bike safely.

To keep our students and our community safe, please do not use our driveway, bus turning circle or visitors’ car park to drop off or collect students during peak times. Please also keep the yellow zig-zag areas clear at the beginning and end of the school day and be considerate of our neighbours, leaving access to their driveways clear. Thank you for your cooperation.
